Welcome to our tour to Brisbane. We meet our friendly C T Travel crew and begin our tour. We stop at City Hall where we embark on a guided tour before morning tea at The Shingle Inn. In 1936, David Webster and Sons built the original Shingle Inn on Edward Street, with this vision to be an elegant English style teahouse and restaurant. It quickly developed an enviable reputation with locals and became a busy landmark with queues to buy their famous cakes. The cafes unique architecture created a distinctive and quaint character unlike any other café in the city, featuring a shingled exterior, panelled interior, dark beamed ceilings and small windows of many panes. With the cafes ownership divided between two families over its long history, it still retains a sense of continuity and charm. We travel to Mount Coot-tha, where we enjoy lunch in the botanic gardens and some time to enjoy the view from the lookout. From here we will be able to see the Glasshouse Mountains and the Lamington National Park. On the banks of the Brisbane River is The Star, our incredible accommodation. Nestled at the heart of the multi-billion dollar Queens Wharf Precinct, The Star features a luxurious 5 star hotel, stunning rooftop venues with incredible views, restaurants and bars. We check in and have time to enjoy our hotel which is a destination in itself. Dinner tonight will be at Cucina Regina, where we taste simple, authentic Italian food with a touch of old-world charm.

We hop on board MV Nepture for a magnificent tour of Brisbane by water. Sit back and relax as we cruise past historical landmarks and the homes of the rich and famous while being entertained by informative commentary. Lunch will be served at The Plough Inn, one of Brisbane’s most iconic and vibrant gastro pubs. After lunch you can make your way to Southbank to ride the Wheel of Brisbane and enjoy the views of the city. We return to our hotel with time at leisure. Tonight, we dine at Black Hide. Drawing on three generations of The Gambaro Group, Black Hide delivers an exciting dining experience focusing on freshly sourced seafood, a renowned selection of steaks and panoramic river views.

After a leisurely breakfast, we make our way to Newstead House. Once the finest home in the colony of Moreton Bay, boasting a reputation for hosting lavish parties, it was considered the heart of Brisbane’s social scene. Built in 1846, it is now Brisbane’s oldest standing European residence and tells the story of early colonial life in Brisbane. Lunch today is at the famous Breakfast Creek Hotel. With a history that stretches back to 1889 the hotel was one of the first hotels to offer beer garden style dining and the first to open a drive through bottle shop in the 1960s. After a delicious lunch we make our way home, returning from a wonderful Brisbane break.
