This morning, we’ll see some of the local sights from the coach such as Gantheaume Point, the Japanese Cemetery and Chinatown. Next, we discover the rare and beautiful Australian South Sea Cultured Pearl on the award winning Willie Creek Pearl Farm Tour. The fascinating tour will give us an insight into the process of pearl farming, from shell to showroom. Set amongst the crystal clear waters and mangrove lined banks of Willie Creek, we’ll learn how pearl technicians seed and harvest oysters and discover exactly what makes the perfect pearl. Our visit will also include lunch, a boat cruise and time for some retail therapy. After an interesting day, we return to our hotel for dinner.
Breakfast and dinner at hotel | Lunch at Willie Creek Pearl Farm
Our destination today is Fitzroy Crossing but first we detour to visit the Boab Prison Tree, one of the most unconventional lockups you’ll ever come across, capable of holding several prisoners. Here we can also have our photo taken in front of the water trough that locals claim to be the biggest in the southern hemisphere. We now make our way to Fitzroy Crossing, a true outback town, set on the banks of the mighty Fitzroy River.
Fitzroy River Lodge, Fitzroy Crossing | 08 9191 5141 | 1 night
Breakfast and dinner at hotel | Packed lunch included
This morning, we travel out to nearby Geikie Gorge where we take a cruise through this spectacular landscape. The Fitzroy River has carved its path through the fossil “Barrier Reef” formed 300 million years ago, resulting in mountainous cliffs and breathtaking scenery. We continue through the magnificent red mountain scenery of the Kimberley to Halls Creek, on the edge of the Great Sandy Desert.

Our morning is spent on the coach as we travel to Kununurra. Meaning “big water”, the town was established as the residential and administrative centre of the Ord River Scheme – a huge irrigation scheme which was developed in the 1970s. We enjoy lunch on arrival at the Ivanhoe Café before a visit to The Hoochery Rum Distillery, for a tour and tasting of their spirits. Our final visit is to Kimberley Ornamental Stonecraft. It’s here we can see stone art and jewellery skilfully handcrafted from gemstones and unique Kimberley rock including the fine banded Zebra stone.

Embark on an incredible early morning scenic flight over Purnululu National Park to see the Bungle Bungle Range. See a maze of curious orange and black striped beehive shaped domes from above, making it the Kimberley’s best scenic views. We then make our way to Lake Argyle, the largest man-made lake in the Southern Hemisphere. We stop at the historic Argyle Homestead Museum, constructed as a replica of the original family homestead including the original stone. We then continue to Lake Argyle Resort for lunch before one of the highlights of the region – a cruise from Lake Argyle to Kununurra. Marvel at the spectacular scenery and abundance of Australian native wildlife in their natural habitat. Take in the untamed landscape of the lesser known but equally incredible Carr Boyd Ranges before enjoying an East Kimberley sunset as we arrive back in Kununurra.
Breakfast and dinner at hotel | Lunch at Lake Argyle
**Scenic Flight is subject to weather conditions on the day.
We have a travel day as we cross the border into Northern Territory. We continue through Timber Creek and Victoria River Crossing before arriving in Katherine where we can settle in for the evening.

This morning, we travel to Nitmiluk (Katherine Gorge) for a jaw dropping Gorge Cruise. Be transported to the spiritual world of the Jawoyn culture and history as we witness the magnificent gorge backdrop from out boat. Taking us to the end of the first gorge, experience the beauty of large boulders, rock pools and sands that make up the crossover to the second gorge. For lunch we stop in Pine Creek before heading to Adelaide River to visit the Adelaide River War Cemetery. Here we see the military and civilian graves honouring those killed in the Bombing of Darwin. We continue to Darwin, the final stop on our epic journey.

Today we delve into the captivating sights and rich history of Darwin. Our first stop is to the Museum and Art Gallery of the Northern Territory (MAGNT). Set in a tropical garden at Bullocky Point, the MAGNT has a variety of collections that highlight the regions art, culture and history. One of the more powerful exhibitions tells the story of Cyclone Tracey and how it changed, not just the urban landscape, but the lives of Darwin residents. We then enjoy an afternoon at leisure. We meet back up again at a designated time for a visit to the Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS) and Bombing of Darwin tourist facility – two iconic stories in one prominent location! Experience the history of the RFDS through virtual reality, holograms and interactive displays and delve into the profound impact of the bombing of Darwin through captivating cinematic experiences and intricate models. We have some free time to purchase lunch before time at leisure this afternoon. Then we board the Spirit of Darwin as we watch the sun set on the harbour before our delicious farewell dinner.
